KAT-TUN is a Japanese boys band formed by Johnny & Associates (Johnny's) in 2001. The group's name is an acronym that was exclusively based on the first letter of each member's family name:

Facts about Akanishi Jin

• He is the best friend of Tomohisa Yamashita
• When he was still in grade school, a classmate sent in a photo of him to idol magazine
• Akanishi expressed interest in the entertainment industry and his mother thus sent in an application to Johnny's Entertainment on his behalf in 1998.
•  Akanishi announced in a press conference on October 13, 2006 that he was leaving the country to study English abroad for an indefinite amount of time. Despite his absence, KAT-TUN were obliged to continue its activities and released their third single and second studio album, "Bokura no Machi de" and Cartoon KAT-TUN II You, which both topped the charts. Akanishi finally returned from Los Angeles after six months on April 19, 2007.
• Akanishi is also a songwriter having written songs for KAT-TUN and for himself, including "Care", "Hesitate", "Love or Like", "Lovejuice" and "Wonder".
• In 2009, Akanishi was cast as the lead actor in the movie, BANDAGE, directed by Takeshi Kobayashi and which is scheduled for release in 2010. This will be his big screen debut.
• People also call Jin "Bakanishi" (from "baka", which means "idiot";

Facts about Tatsuya Ueda

• As a child, he witnessed a man being killed.
• He joined the Johnny’s because he admired Tsubasa Imai so much.
• He is a sensitive person, and is easily hurt by what others say.
• Band-mate Jin Akanishi who joined Johnny’s 6 months after Ueda thought at first that Ueda was a senpai of the same level as Hideaki Takizawa.
• He was once talent-scouted by another talent agency.
• Band-mate Kazuya Kamenashi befriended him when they formed KAT -TUN and always looks out for him. One of his wishes is for Ueda to have a solo concert one day.

• Ryo Nishikido from NEWS /Kanjani8 is sometimes cruel to Ueda. •  His nickname is "Yu", so when he went to the first Johnny's audition and Johnny-san called out: "Hey, YOU!" in English, Maru thought: "How does he know my name?!".
• He also gets called "Yucchi", "Yuichi" and "Maru".
• He hates being "N" in KAT-TUN because he's last in everything. He thinks people only like his beat-boxing and that apart from that people don't notice him.
• KAT-TUN always mock him and say "Your wig's on wrong!" and "Why don't you pluck your eyebrows?".
• He thinks he looks like a koala bear because of his nose.
• He met his ideal girl in a dream, but he didn't know she was the one at first. He didn't really notice her, but gradually her kindness and friendly attitude won his heart and he fell in love with her after many dreams.
