The GazettE

The Gazette (ガゼット Gazetto), stylized as the GazettE, is a Japanese visual kei rock/metal band formed in early 2002, and currently signed to Sony Music Japan's VVV Records. They are now an influential pioneer of the Visual Kei scene around the globe.

Style

The Gazette's musical style varies greatly, but it is generally considered to be a form of rock music while delving into the genres of heavy metal found in songs like "Ogre." They have also dabbled in alternative metal with the likes of "Taion" and "The Invisible Wall". Other songs like "Silly God Disco" and "Swallowtail on the Death Valley" feature a funk metal sound with the use of jazzy chords and upbeat choruses. Other works such as "Leech" and "Hyena" feature a hard rock sound. "Filth in the Beauty" features female R&B vocals and bass, Spanish guitar with techno beat, crunchy metal riffs, harmonized choruses and a headbanging riff right in the middle - all within the same song. The songs "Maggots", "Discharge" and "Headache Man" dwell into heavier forms of music, in particular, metalcore. The Gazette also uses a wide range of synthesized sounds during their songs to achieve interesting effects as well as create new listening dynamics and atmospheres. The Gazette is also known for utilizing various tunings to achieve a wide variety of sounds and styles. The Gazette has also produced a number of ballads such as "Reila", "Cassis", "Calm Envy", "Guren", and "Pledge".

Personal History

He was born in Mie Prefecture on Jan. 20. His siblings are a sister ten years older and a brother six years older.

After listening to X (-Japan), CD bought by his brother, he thought, "Cool!" And was impressed, so he wanted to try playing it, and then he asked his brother, "Can I borrow your guitar?", But the guitar broke and no sound could come out of it, so he bought his own electric guitar. This was the beginning of Aoi's life as a musician.

He formed a band during high school, and they worked on copying music from Halloween and Sekima-II. After that, during high school, he did not participate in any activities of the band. He just continued his activities after the band he went to Tokyo.

In 2002, the Gazette was formed.

Personality

In contrast to Uruha, he does not use technical shredding or other styles to play (or rather, apparently, as he says, is not really his forte), he approaches with the deepest emotion to play.

Also, at first, he did not know how to palm mute, there is an anecdote that was ² Uruha who taught him. Still, there is a small number of songs with guitar solos performed by Aoi, as' the ZAKUROgata Yuutsu ',' Shichigatsu Youka ',' Kare Uta ',' GENTLE LIE ',' Shiroki Yuutsu ',' LINDA~candydive Pinky heaven~ 'and so on that were recorded.

Out of all the members of the GazettE, just him and Uruha has a habit of drinking. Apparently he is a drinker too sentimental and, earlier, when he was drinking with Uruha, it seems that he shouted "I'm glad to be (here) with Uruha."

His favorite band is Metallica and he said he began using ESP guitars, due to the influence by Kirk Hammett. He also likes Kotaro Oshio.

During the first day of the Gazette, he made no diligent effort of the band, and studio during meetings with other members, he quit his job to part-time. There has been criticism of anti-sites, such as "We do not know if he's playing it (on stage) or not and in fact he was not playing his guitar parts. Then, one day after Uruha asked, "Why are not you playing?" He really started playing. According to Aoi, these episodes about himself: "If I could find at that time, I definitely would punch me."

It seems that he refers to as Ru Ruki-san. In the DVD's live performance in Yoyogi, in April 2008, at the scene of scenes, Aoi had spoken "but Ru-san ...Ruki go ...."

Facts:

When he was in Fukuoka, he felt familiar with the dialect 'cause Fukuoka's dialect is quite similar with Kansai's dialect. 

He went to SUMMER SONIC in 2006 (Is a festival of two or three days that happens simultaneously in Tokyo and Osaka with international and national bands.) Aoi couldn't buy what he wanted 'cause the products were all sold out and he couldn't see Metalica too. 

Take great care of his own equipment, but his house is a mess, as Reita said. 

Ruki said that when they went o Hawaii, Aoi went to surf alone. 

When he was on school, he liked to do kendo, surf and play. 

He worked as a newspaper delivery. 

Started to surf when he was 18 years old and bought a car. The brother of his girlfriend also surf, so, sometimes he borrowed his surfboard. At that time, he worked in a pub at night and surf in the morning. 

He was dating when decided to go to Tokyo, but she didn't go with him. They broke up. Went to Tokyo only with a bag, guitar and 5.000 yen. 

The place where he gets more inspired to compose melodies and lyrics is in his bath.

He and Uruha delay to decide who is going to record first. (In single and album's recordings) 

Recently, he finally bought a new handphone.

Also, he did surf, and he could swim about kilometres in the sea, and when he was young , he did this daily. 

When he was teenager , he was very lazy...[ and now it's hardworking, that's awesome] 

He decided to come to Tokyo, when saw the performance of some VK band, and thought he could much better. Next day, he was on train to Tokyo. He had to break up with his girlfriend when came to Tokyo, and he said that he realizes : that girl didn't deserve him. 

He doesn't watch tv at all.

Personal History

Born in Kanagawa Prefecture on June 9, nicknames are 1981.Seus Ussan or U-sama.

He began playing guitar after he admired [playing saw, felt pretty / q] Sugizo of Luna Sea. After he formed a band with Reita and they worked hard copying songs from LUNA SEA and X JAPAN. (As Reita places are 9 parts of LUNA SEA and a part of X).

On March 10, 2002, After wandering through a multitude of bands with Reita, Ruki and his band, along with Aoi and Yune, they formed the GazettE.

Personality

Within the GazettE songs, he is the one who mainly plays the guitar solos. His style is to play the shredding, and as can be seen in "Psychedelic Heroine" and "The Invisible Wall ', as with tapping' Cassis, Guren and Kyomu in Owari Hakozume Mokushi in', he uses tremolo picking and so on. And proud of himself in other styles of reproduction technique. In addition, 'Ganges ni Akai Bara ", he recorded the guitar solo "ad-lib".

The artists that influenced Uruha, are they, what did he begin to learn guitar, Sugizo, Slipknot, Sum41, Metallica, Steve Vai and the like, to whom he confesses to being influenced, in particular, Steve Vai, because he bought the same Wah Pedal model, and also because he personally uses pickups

Uruha's name was given to him by Ruki. Originally, Ruki wanted to use the name 'Uruha', but after settling on the name "Ruki," Uruha said he "I'll give you that name!" Which is how he got the name 'Uruha. "

He loves alcohol, he drinks beverages that gets fans' lives before, he received some negative reviews about it and he said, "I can not bring my mood to a normal live. I can not unnerve everyone, if I'm not feeling miffed, so I drink to lift my spirits a bit (before the live). "

He drinks soymilk. he just drinks it every morning. And Reita gets irritated because he thinks Uruha is showing off when he does that.

Depends on what they're doing, but Uruha tends to sometimes sleep during the day when he's not doing anything. Like in studio or something. And if he's not sleepy, he'll:

a. Bring in games to play or play with others

b. Bring a dvd to watch

After a good days work, he goes to a family restaurant to eat

-he admits this is bad, but if he can't get to sleep, he'll drink a bit and then he can go to sleep

Personal History

He was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Sagamihara City. He has an older sister. When he was 5, her parents separated and he moved to the nearby home of his grandmother.

When he was in fourth grade of elementary school, he received an invitation to join a football club. That was where he met his future band mate Uruha.

When I was in high school, he began playing guitar, but then gave up immediately. After that, he challenged to the electric guitar, but soon tired of her, and after that, he ended up with the bass, with the motive of "Ooh ~ it does not stand out e. .. I could play without practicing it, would not you? "He formed a band with Uruha, who enrolled in the same gym and they worked hard to copy the LUNA SEA.

When they had gone through several bands, in 2002, he formed the GazettE. This is his current band.

Personality

The style to play flatpicking is to Reita. However, in some parts of "COCKROACH", "Defective Tragedy" and some other songs, depending on configuration, it uses the finger picking. In 'COCKROACH "," Rich Excrement "," MOB 136 BARS "(only in the recording CD), 'in Kyomu Owari Hakozume in Mokushi' and so on, he does slapping.

The cloth around his nose is his trademark. During a festival of arts (performance), in high school, he wanted to hide some part of it, so he tried to involve various parts of himself, and drew in his nose.

Some of his favorite bands are the Sex Pistols and The Offspring.

He has a personality with a strong sense of justice, and he says he "wants to go without" any bad behavior or violence among fans during their lives.

The car has loved that is now a Ford Mustang.

Born on October 28 in Tokushima Prefecture.
When he was in elementary school, went to a Jazz Café and after being overwhelmed by the battery, he thought: 'I want to play drums. "But there was a setback, after his father introduced him to jazz drummer, because he was very small and his feet could not reach the pedals.
However, he returned to the battery during high school. However, he did not have a set of drums, so he went on tables, pans and magazines.

Personality
He usually has a quiet personality, but when it goes into a musical performance, as if it is changed to another person for his violent hit.
He often uses irregular rhythms in his style, in his opinion and according to members, "Kai is the kind of drummer who shows his specialty during the live."
There are rumors that he tends to forget things very fast. In fact, he talks about this in one of his lFacive interviews on the DVD.

Kai actually doesn't dislike drinking, and has in fact started drinking again! But when he's out drinking with everyone, he tends to "over-drink"... as in, he gets hyper and then crashes.
Kai stopped drinking for two years because after he drank, he'd hit a low point "tension-wise", and he didn't like that about himself, which is why he stopped drinking.
Kai likes beer, a brand from Okinawa called Awamori.

His wish for the future is to attain happiness, and one way of getting that happiness, for him, is getting a big house.
